Day with TrainsThe Museums kick off the holiday season on Saturday, December 12 with the Pennyrile Polar Express. Historic East 9th Street will be transformed into a winter wonderland with train station stops that feature FREE activities sponsored by local businesses. Meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at the L&N Depot as they read the book The Polar Express. Enjoy special holiday readings, model train layouts, carriage rides, mini train rides, craft stations, hot chocolate, refreshments, and more!

On Saturday, December 19 we will be hosting A Day with Trains at the Pennyroyal Area Museum from 11am-2pm. Watch as our conductors run trains on two model train layouts. Also, make a craft to take home at our winter fun craft table. Regular admission rates apply.

Pennyroyal TreasuresThe Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County also invite the community to see our Pennyroyal Treasures exhibit that currently features a collection of Nutcrackers. On loan from local collector Elizabeth McCoy, these colorful and unique representations of the iconic holiday character bring a sense of wonderment to the museum.

Looking for a special place to shop for Christmas presents? Our Museum Shop has a wide selection of gifts for those looking for items with a local twist. Local books and items related to holistic health stock our shelves. Get the 2015 Kiwanis ornament and the Pennyroyal Arts Council and Hopkinsville Art Guild’s new Christian County Counts book. Other new items in the shop include Tobacco Barns of Western Kentucky and Farming in the Black Patch that showcase our region’s agricultural heritage and beauty, a documentary about the Kitty League, a reproduction of a 1901 publication of the Pembroke Journal, prints of the historic HoMuseum Shoptel Latham, and so much more! An annual makes a great gift, too!

The Museums will be closed for the holidays from Thursday, December 24 through Saturday, December 26. We will re-open with our regular hours on Tuesday, December 29, 2015. The Museums will be closed on New Year’s Day. (The Museums remain closed to the public on Mondays.)
