Constructed in 1894 and named for Hopkinsville native and benefactor John C. Latham, Jr., the hotel was an architectural masterpiece that welcomed guests like Theodore Roosevelt, Ethel Barrymore, and John Philip Sousa and his band.

The evening will feature a selection of hors d’oeuvres Hotel Latham3smallPrintinspired by original menu items from the hotel’s dining room. Mingle with guests and interact with characters as you experience different vignettes that made the hotel the social center of the community. A barbershop, guest room, and drug store and confectionery of the 1920s will come to life for this evening of fun and entertainment. Famous national characters that stayed at the hotel will make special appearances, and guests will have the opportunity to view rarely-seen, original video footage taken of the fire that destroyed this landmark on August 4, 1940. A presentation by Christian County Historian William T. Turner and a live auction of unique adventures will round out this special event.

Tickets are $50 per person. All proceeds support the Museum and its mission to provide an enjoyable learning environment derived from authentic objects, stories, and the history of Hopkinsville, Christian County, and surrounding communities; to represent and foster a sense of pride in our diverse heritage; and to identify and showcase our shared past to shape a better future.
