Kentucky Heritage Quilt SocietyThe Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County will host the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society’s 2012 Challenge Quilts from May 4-11, 2013. This statewide organization offers its members a quilting challenge every year based on a theme. More than twenty pieces that interpret this year’s theme, “It’s About Time,” are touring the state and making a stop at the Pennyroyal Area Museum

Founded in 1981, the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society seeks to promote understanding, appreciation, and knowledge of the art and craft of quilt-making. With over 400 members representing all regions of the state, this organization also works to support and to expand the collection and preservation of Kentucky quilts, as well as the records of the state’s quilt makers and their work.

Quilt designs incorporate a number of motifs, from flying pigs and donuts to clocks and other traditional timepieces. Each one tells its own story and offers a glimpse into a different aspect of time.
