Since 1976, the mission of the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County (formerly known under the “Pennyroyal Area Museum”) has been to collect, preserve, and share objects and other items that tell the varied stories of the Pennyroyal region. Permanent exhibits, unique displays, special events, and educational and public programs help us to promote this mission and provide us with opportunities to engage the community. Our mission and our facilities have expanded to include three museums: the Pennyroyal Area Museum, the Woody Winfree Fire-Transportation Museum, and the Charles Jackson Circus Museum. With these new additions come exciting new opportunities and new challenges.

Support of the Museum through annual memberships is one of the most important aspects of our fundraising and outreach programs, and your dedication to this organization has been greatly appreciated and beneficial to our growth. We are currently embarking on an effort to update our artifact storage areas to ensure that we are preserving our collections using the most up-to-date techniques available. In addition, we are set to begin a major restoration of the second floor of the Woody Winfree Fire-Transportation Museum. When complete, this space will offer more room for exhibits and will provide a unique meeting space for the community. Finally, the Pennyroyal Area Museum is in need of a cosmetic makeover to make the public spaces more inviting, welcoming areas for guests to experience our region’s history. Your support will enable the Museum to achieve its goals and to remain an active and vital part of this community.

We hope that you will consider becoming a member of this organization. You may download and complete the membership form and submit it with your payment.

We are also always in need of volunteers to help us with everything from giving tours to cataloguing artifacts. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or are interested in serving our Hopkinsville Community here at the Museums.

Exciting things are happening at the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville–Christian County, and I hope that you will join us and be a participating part of history. On behalf of our staff and Board of Directors,
