The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian Co. presents the First Annual Tobacco War Pilgrimage from Friday, Sept. 21 through Sunday, Sept. 23.This three day event in Hopkinsville, KY will portray historical events that commemorate this turbulent time in the agricultural and social history of western Kentucky and Tennessee.
The weekend begins on Friday at 7pm and 9pm with the annual Night Rider Reenactment, a hayride tour retracing the fiery raid on Hopkinsville in 1907.Saturday’s events include a Stroll down South Main: a Historic Homes Tour from 11am-3pm; viewings of the movie On Bended Knees from 10am-3pm at the Pennyroyal Area Museum; and the Trial of the Night Riders, a dramatic performance at 4pm and 7:30pm held in the same historic courtroom where the trial was conducted 101 years ago. Ms Ann’s, a local restaurant and tea room, will host a Historical Dinner Buffet, circa 1907, on Friday and Saturday evenings with reservations starting at 5pm. The Pilgrimage culminates on Sunday with Sounds of the Time, a free event from 2pm-5pm that features musical selections in four historic churches in downtown Hopkinsville.
