Our Soldiers’ Stories: Vietnam

The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County, in conjunction with the Big Read, invites residents and veterans to share their stories and photographs that relate to personal experiences with the war in Vietnam. Museum staff will coordinate with veterans and active duty soldiers to schedule and conduct oral history interviews about participation in and perspectives about the conflict.

Museum staff will be available to scan and digitize photos and other documents that veterans wish to share. These scanned items and oral history interviews will enhance the digital collection of the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County.

If you are interested in participating in this project, please contact Janet Bravard at the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County at 270-887-4270 or at jbravard@museumsofhopkinsville.org. We plan to conduct interviews throughout the month of February.

For a list of possible questions and discussion topics for the oral history interviews, visit Sample Oral History Interview Questions Soldier Stories Vietnam.

The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment of the Arts designed to revitalize the role of reading in American culture by exposing citizens to great works of literature and encouraging them to read for pleasure and enrichment. The Big Read is managed by Arts Midwest.
