DESCRIPTION:The Supper Club: Indian Cuisine\n\n\nThe Supper Club’s next meeting will be Thursday\, June 4 and will meet at the Pennyroyal Area Museum at 6pm. This month’s program welcomes back Dr. Paresh and Mona Sheth who will be cooking special recipes of Indian heritage. Dr. Sheth is a neurologist – now under the umbrella of the Jennie Stuart Health Provider Based Clinics – and Mona is actively involved in many aspects of the community. Both love to cook\, and they maintain a friendly banter over who is the better chef.\n\n\nThey will demonstrate traditional Indian dishes\, and guests will have the opportunity to taste and experience the cuisine\, as well as take home a recipe and any unique ingredients required to cook the dish at home.\n\n\nPlease note that the date has been changed and was previously scheduled for June 11. \n\n\nThe cost to attend this delicious program will be $10.00 per person. Dates for upcoming Supper Club gatherings will be August 13\, October 8\, and December 10\, 2026. All programs will be held at the Pennyroyal Area Museum at 6pm.\n\n\nTickets can be purchased at the Pennyroyal Area Museum or online in our Shopify store.\n\n\nThe Supper Club is designed to build community belonging. DESCRIPTION:The bell hooks Legacy Group and the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County continue to celebrate the life and work of Hopkinsville native bell hooks with a book discussion on Monday\, June 15 at 6pm in the bell hooks Legacy Room at the Pennyroyal Area Museum. \nThe bell hooks Book Club is an informal group who will come together in conversation of Hopkinsville native bell hooks and her extensive work. All are welcome to join the discussion. \nBorn Gloria Jean Watkins in Hopkinsville and writing under the pen name bell hooks\, this remarkable woman published 40 books in her lifetime. The cultural critic\, educator\, and theorist is best known for her writings on feminism\, race\, and class\, but she also wrote children’s books and books about love\, spirituality\, and healthy relationships. \nThis month\, the group will continue Salvation with Chapter 3: the issue of self love. Discussions will continue with additional books or chapters on the third Monday of each month. \nWriter\, cultural critic\, feminist icon\, and Hopkinsville native bell hooks explores what causes a polarized society and how to heal divisions. This New York Times bestselling book offers the truth about love in an expansive context and gives inspiration to help us instill caring\, compassion\, and strength in all our interactions. DESCRIPTION:The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County is collaborating with the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library for a morning of tombstone cleaning Saturday\, June 27 from 9:30 – 11:30am\, as part of the library’s Summer Reading Program. \nChildren (and adults) ages 13 and over are invited to help preserve local history by cleaning and restoring old tombstones at Pioneer Cemetery.  \nLocated at 301 W. 13th Street\, this 200-year-old cemetery is the final resting place for Christian County’s earliest settlers\, including Hopkinsville’s founder Bartholomew Wood. \nFolks will receive a brief training on respectful cemetery etiquette and on how to document and clean historic tombstones safely before grabbing a bucket and brush. Learn more about Hopkinsville’s history while making our community a brighter place! \nThis program is free to attend\, and the Museum will provide all supplies. We encourage folks to bring water and wear real shoes (not sandals)\, long pants\, and bug spray.

DESCRIPTION:The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County is hosting a special event Hotel Latham Remembered on Tuesday\, August 4th at 6pm at The Crusty Pig. The event features a program about the history of Hopkinsville’s finest hotel and a pizza buffet. \nGET TICKETS\nBuilt in 1894 on the site now home to The Crusty Pig\, the Hotel Latham named for and heavily financed by Hopkinsville native and benefactor John C. Latham\, Jr. The hotel was an architectural masterpiece that welcomed guests like Theodore Roosevelt\, Ethel Barrymore\, and John Philip Sousa and his band. Noted for its elegant dining room\, the hotel served as the cultural center for much of the community. The hotel burned in a dramatic fire on August 4\, 1940. \nJoin Alissa Keller\, Museum Director\, for a program about the iconic business’s impact on the community featuring historic photographs and video of the hotel. The program will be catered with a classic Crusty Pig buffet that includes salad\, 5 different pizzas\, and gelato for dessert. \nTickets to attend are $20 for Museum Members and $25 for potential Museum Members. DESCRIPTION:The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County and the Human Rights Commission of Hopkinsville-Christian County invite you to join The Supper Club: Inspiring Cultural & Culinary Conversations\, an open group that will explore the diversity of our community through food. The club is open to anyone who loves food\, conversation\, and learning about other cultures through commensality\, which means together at the table.  \nThe Supper Club’s next meeting will be Thursday\, August 13 and will meet at the Pennyroyal Area Museum at 6pm.This month’s program welcomes Charlotte Kollias Smith who will be cooking special recipes of Greek heritage. Smith is a first generation German and second generation Greek loves all things to do with cooking and cocktails. Her love of party and menu planning stems from her German mom\, who was an amazing cook and made every meal a special occasion! Charlotte especially enjoys cooking foods from Greece~ particularly from the Kalamata region\, from where her paternal grandparents (and the delicious olives) come. You can find Charlotte setting cheese on fire and toasting with Ouzo every January 3rd in memory of her dad. Kaly Orexi! Good appetite! \nShe will demonstrate traditional dishes\, and guests will have the opportunity to taste and experience the cuisine. Guests will take home a recipe and any unique ingredients required to cook the dish at home. \nThe cost to attend this delicious program will be $10.00 per person. Dates for upcoming Supper Club gatherings will be October 8 and December 10\, 2026. All programs will be held at the Pennyroyal Area Museum at 6pm. \nTickets can be purchased at the Pennyroyal Area Museum or online in our Shopify store.  \nThe Supper Club is designed to build community belonging. DESCRIPTION:The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County\, Hoptown Chronicle\, the Christian County Literacy Council\, and the bell hooks Legacy Group invite you to the next gathering of the bell hooks Book Club\, an informal group who will come together in conversation of Hopkinsville native bell hooks and her extensive work. The next gathering will be Monday\, Aug. 17 at 6pm at the Pennyroyal Area Museum. \nThe group will continue its discussion of bell hooks’s 2001 book Salvation: Black People and Love. DESCRIPTION:The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County invites you to History on Tap Thursday\, August 27 at 6:30pm.  \nMuseum Director Alissa Keller will present “From Hoptown to Hollywood: Gant Gaither’s Life & Art.”\n\nAfter graduating from Hopkinsville High School\, this son of a local surgeon studied abroad\, opened a theater in Miami\, worked as a producer in Broadway and Hollywood\, and became great friends with celebrities like Grace Kelly. He settled in the resort community of Palm Springs in the 1960s where he established himself as an artist. His whimsical designs featured animals of all kinds and were used as designs for textiles and home interior products.\n\nIn 2023\, the Museum received a large donation of archives and photographs from a resident of Palm Springs\, California. This gentleman and his wife had purchased the former home of Gant Gaither\, and these materials had been left behind. In this program\, Keller will explore the life of Gant Gaither\, one of the most creative souls ever to come out of Hopkinsville\, through the materials he left behind.\n\nThe Museum’s annual gala on Friday\, September 18 will also celebrate the life and art of Gant Gaither. Two tickets to the gala will be given away at History on Tap. You don’t want to miss it!\nHistory on Tap is a free series that seeks to share local history in a relaxed\, fun setting. DESCRIPTION:The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County and the Hopkinsville Historic Community invite Museum Members and residents of the local residential historic districts to take an afternoon South Main Stroll with us on Sunday\, September 13 at 1:30pm. Led by Museum Director Alissa Keller\, this walking tour will explore the residential district along South Main from about 17th to 20th streets. She will discuss historic architecture while sharing stories of the people that have shaped our town. \nThe tour will start in front of 1715 South Main Street and will end at 2011 South Main with cookies and lemonade on the porch. The tour will last approximately 90 minutes and cover approximately one-half mile. The tour is free\, but registration is encouraged. DESCRIPTION:The Hopkinsville History Foundation in collaboration with the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County and with support from Planters Bank announces its third annual gala fundraiser Palm Royale: The Museum’s Gant Gaither Gala on Friday\, September 18\, 2026.* This fundraising event supports the Museum and its mission to share the stories of our community through an inclusive dialogue about our history. \nInspired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Met Gala\, this evening will begin with a grand promenade entrance and cocktail hour inside the Pennyroyal Area Museum followed by a dinner and music with Full Circle outside under the stars. The promenade and cocktail hour start at 6:00pm with dinner and music at 7:00pm. \nThe event will also feature a special art installation inspired by items designed by Gant Gaither. The pieces that compose this unique “Create from the Collection” exhibition will be created by local artists and available for purchase at a silent auction during the event. More information about participating as an artist will be shared soon. \nThe theme for the evening is “Palm Royale: The Museum’s Gant Gaither Gala.” Inspired by local artist Gant Gaither\, this evening of mid-century glamor celebrates the life and work of one of Hopkinsville’s most creative souls.
