History on Tap: Christian County’s Wealthiest Woman
March 28 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeWe are honoring Women’s History Month at History on Tap with a special program about a fascinating local woman.
In 1896 following the death of her mother, seven-year-old Louise Jones became one of the wealthiest people in Christian County. Her father Lucian Jones, the first president of the City Bank of Hopkinsville, had already passed away – before his little daughter’s second birthday. As the family’s sole heir, the young orphan inherited a great estate and led a fascinating life. Museum Director Alissa Keller will explore the story of this local woman in all of its beauty and tragedy.
Keller joins us again to present in April on yet another fascinating local personality and his connection to an international diamond hoax in the late 19th century.
History on Tap is a free series that seeks to share local history in a relaxed, fun setting. Programs are typically held on the last Thursday of the month at 6:30pm at Hopkinsville Brewing Company.
